Falcon Waterfree Technologies Joins Forces with TreePeople

We are pleased to announce Falcon Waterfree Technologies’ Liam Dow, Government Affairs Coordinator, has joined the Board of Directors for Los Angeles based non-profit TreePeople to help secure a more sustainable future in Los Angeles.

tree-people

Los Angeles, March 4, 2016 As a company committed to changing the world by developing revolutionary, technology-driven restroom products that conserve our Earth’s precious fresh water supply and to using the power of our business and products to help solve local social and environmental problems, Falcon Waterfree Technologies is proud to announce that Liam Dow, Government Affairs Coordinator, has joined the Board of Directors at Los Angeles based non-profit TreePeople.

TreePeople works to ensure climate resiliency in the city of Los Angeles by monitoring and supporting sufficient tree canopy, healthy soil and locally-sourced water initiatives. TreePeople focuses their efforts on working with both communities and governments to create unstoppable momentum for beneficial community change.  With their focus on chief urban forestry, TreePeople helps to rebuild areas with the lowest amount of tree canopy, concentrating much of their efforts in South LA and the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

Just like Falcon, TreePeople is very concerned about the effects of the current California drought in Los Angeles and is fully engaged in providing support to the local community.  Los Angeles is an urban jungle that, in many parts, is fully covered by asphalt and concrete.  As California has been hit with rain from El Nino, this asphalt ground cover prevents water from absorbing into our aquifers and is instead wasted, often running into our oceans. As the California and Los Angeles climate continues becomes hotter and drier, an abundant tree canopy is crucial to shading and ultimately helping create a dependable local water supply. By investing in both the planting of new trees and caring of our current trees, TreePeople is reestablishing healthy soil, conserving water, and ultimately helping to harvesting the rain.

“Since getting involved with TreePeople over the past few months, it’s been remarkable to see all of the amazing work and collaboration going on in the City of LA to achieve a more sustainable future for all Angelinos. I could not be happier to be a part of this movement towards sustainability.” Stated Dow.

Falcon Waterfree Technologies is proud to be able to support TreePeople and aid in their commitment to building a stronger and more sustainable Los Angeles.

City of LA Water Audit Reveals High ROI & Efficiency of Waterfree Urinal Rebates

LA water audit reveals cost-ineffectiveness of turf rebates, but high potential water and financial savings for urinal and toilet rebate spending.

Auditors estimated that rebates for water-efficiency devices, including waterfree urinals, are saving the most water, 1.3 billion gallons of water saved, and have the highest return on investment.

LOS ANGELES, CA- A recent water conservation audit conducted by the City of Los Angeles suggests an urgent need for the city government to rethink its current conservation measures and rebate spending. According to the audit, the city’s turf rebate program has failed to achieve the same degree of cost-effectiveness and returns as other contending residential and commercial rebates despite heavy investment and the latest surge in demand for turf replacement.

In the 2013-2014 fiscal year, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) spent roughly $12.6 million to fund its SoCal WaterSmart Rebate (SCWR) program. Among the various available rebates, waterless urinal rebates exhibited one of the highest returns in the commercial sector, at 2,665 gallons saved per dollar spent. Returns for turf rebates, on the other hand, have been lackluster, showcasing an average savings of only 287 gallons for each dollar spent.

Altogether, the SCWR program saved the city more than 946 million gallons of water between 2013-2014, with rebates for water-efficient devices constituting roughly 92% of that savings and those for the turf removal program comprising the remaining 8%. The LADWP reported that a total of 114,251 water-saving devices were installed as part of the program, with high-efficiency toilets constituting the largest category of disbursed water devices.

Such promising water savings potential from waterless urinals and high-efficiency toilets indicate that the $18 million the city spent on turf rebates in 2014-2015 could have been better allocated to funding and expanding more proven, cost-effective rebate programs. With the city’s announcement that it will be increasing its upcoming spending budget for water conservation programs to $59 million, now is the time to start pushing the city to take greater initiatives for cutting wasteful rebate spending. The city must better prioritize its various water savings efforts if it wish to maintain a successful water conservation plan in the long-term.

Drought Spurs New Water Saving Hybrid Urinal Technology

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA- August 18, 2015

Falcon Waterfree Technologies® launches revolutionary, multi-patent pending hybrid urinal technology to the US new construction market. The timed and water-savvy, yet powerful, hybrid urinal technology provides best in class building system performance while maximizing water savings.

Industry-wide high-efficiency urinal (“HEU”) adoption now allows plumbing fixtures to respond to nationwide severe drought by minimizing flush volumes.  However, new research has demonstrated that supplemental water flows help keep the pipes behind HEUs clean.  Falcon’s hybrid urinal technology uses this insight to provide exceptional performance by periodically sending a large volume of water through the pipe system behind waterfree urinals. This revolutionary, proprietary, patented technology functions as waterfree in daily use and automatically performs a full gallon (4 liter) flush of the urinal and pipe system every 72 hours instead of trickling a small volume of water with each use like other HEUs.   Our hybrid urinal technology’s automatic flush only uses 102 gallons of water a year no matter how many people use the fixture.  Falcon’s hybrid technology provides maximum United States Green Building Council LEED points and consistent and quantifiable water savings for sustainability professionals or those responding to drought conditions.

“As a California based company, Falcon was formed with the vision to conserve water.  The new hybrid urinal technology, offers the most hygienic, water saving, high performance available,” stated Simon A. Davis, President & CEO of Falcon.  “We are committed to further innovations within the commercial restroom. This revolutionary technology is just the latest of many that will maximize water savings while providing the best performance. The hybrid urinal technology is available in North America exclusively through Sloan.”
